Welcome to La Paz!

This capital city of the state of Baja California, Mexico boasts stunning desert landscapes, turquoise seas, and one of the most diverse marine ecosystems in the world.

It’s Mexico’s best-kept travel secret—a safe, laid-back spot where nature lovers, divers, surfers and artists feel right at home.

La Paz : La Paz (which means “Peace”) lies on a sheltered bay in the Gulf of California, also known as the Sea of Cortez.

Population: approx. 245,000

Weather : Weather: La Paz has a desert climate.

Average daytime temperatures range from 20 to 25° C, rising

to the mid-30s in the summer (July to September).

The region gets very little rain, mainly in August and September.

The rest of the year, it’s sunny and hot. At night it can get a little cooler,

so bring a light jacket, just in case!

Safety : True to its name, La Paz is a place where you can feel “at peace.” It’s one of the rare cities in Mexico that has a very high safety record. That’s why BajaLife B&B will truly feel like your home away from home.

Transportation : You can take a bus or taxi, but because the city is so small, most places are within cycling or walking distance.

Currency : CAD$1 = approx $MEX14.50. You can purchase Mexican pesos before you arrive, or use your Interac card at any automatic teller in La Paz to withdraw money (fees range from $3 to $4 per transaction). Most businesses accept credit cards, but it’s always a good idea to have some cash on hand.
